In July 2020 I created The Phare Literary Magazine along with a friend from my Master’s group at the University of Gloucestershire. I called the magazine Phare as it’s an old English word for lighthouse or beacon to guide seafarers, and that’s what we wanted to do with the magazine – shine a light on exceptional writing from around the world.
As well as being joint Managing Editor I am also responsible for how The Phare ‘looks’. I created and built the website and am responsible for choosing images for all the content as well as copywriting general information pages. I have also created the podcast and writer’s tips pages which further boost our ability to promote the magazine via social media.
I was responsible for the social media campaigns during the launch of the magazine. Our first year has been a great success, with emerging and well established writers submitting their work from all over the world.
